Christening last January 23, 2011 (super late post)

After jurassic years, I've already decided to blog again. Talk about "katamaran". Anyways, We've (John and I) been busy few weeks back before Johann's Christening. I've listed a lot in my checklist.

  • Invitation - Since this is what I specialize on (Graphic Design), I created the design for Johann's invitation. Maarte ako so I thought of a lot of "pakulo" to make his invitation unique, somehow. So I designed it this way and cut it that way:
Invitation in the shape of a diaper, to be cut on the lines.

This is the final output.

  • Envelope - My first plan was, to cut a white or blue thick tela (which I don't know its type or name) to be a cover on those invitations I made. But since it's so "matrabaho", I just decided to leave it that way. So this envelope plan was canceled.

  • Tarpaulin - As I said earlier, since this is my forte, I designed the tarp of Johann's Christening. We just had it printed on my cousin's work and it's for free.. wuhoo!
I'm glad that my husband, John, liked my design.

  • Cake - Original plan was to order cake from Baker's Fair since I love their lemon flavored cake (if I'm not mistaken). But we (John and I) were having difficulties on who to pick it up. Baker's Fair is actually in Metropolis Mall in Alabang and we live in BF Homes, Las Pinas. We were not sure whether someone would be free to pick it up. They can deliver but it's too pricey. It cost 700 for delivery only. So John and I decided to just order a cake from Goldilocks. Picture to be posted soon. Hehe.. Here's the pic of the cake.

  • Souvenir/Giveaway - I wanted the souvenirs to be personalized. I have a lot of ideas about it, like sets of lotion, cologne and sanitizer, or jar with chocolates, or tin cans with candles etc. John wanted us to cost cut a lot because we're in crisis mode. He said that we have a lot more to save on. Since he is a very religous person, I decided, it would be more appreciative and less expensive if we would just have a rosary to be a giveaway/souvenir. We went to divisoria to find cool stuff for a souvenir/giveaway. Some were too expensive or too common (which I don't like). So we ended up buying single stuff like small cork bottles, rosary bracelets and small bag (not sure if it's abaca or rattan or whatever, I'm so clueless. hehe) I am also aware that there would be a lot of kids joining us in our celebration so I just decided to add a small circular container with chocolates in it.
Small cork bottles with a rosary bracelet in it. All rosaries are blessed.

Bottles placed inside those (abaca or rattan or whatever) bags.

Small container with chocolates in it.

Just placed a sticker with the design I also made for Johann's Christening.

Souvenirs and

Giveaways.

  • Tables and Chairs - Well, John was the one assigned in this part. "honey, stressed na.. hehe"

  • Center Piece - I wanted to have a center piece para naman may dating, but John didn't agree with it. Magtipid daw ako.

  • Ninongs/Ninangs - We have a lot of pairs. All are close friends and relatives on John's and my side.

  • Food - My family in law was the one in charge of these. But in fairness, the food was oh so good! I personally like the beef with mushroom sauce.

  • Baby Registry - November last year when I signed up in Baby Company for Baby Registry. I listed all the things I wanted for Baby Johann and then I can just notify my friends to just drop by their store to know what I wanted for Johann's gifts. First 10 people would also get 10% discount. I loved the gifts by the way. :)

So far, everything went well on Johann's Christening day. A lot of friends came and I do want to thank them by the way for the effort in going and dropping by the church and house. It's just too hassle for some din kasi it was a Sunday ofcourse, plus noon time so medyo haggard ang iba. If we could only have Johann's Christening special, tipong afternoon gagawin, but we know that it is already tradition.

But anyways, I'm happy that we survived like in our wedding, my birth to Johann and now Johann's Christening. Next would be his 1st birthday. We still have time to save and plan about it. So no need to rush. :)

To Johann, I'm just so happy that you're already a Christian. We'll do our best to be a role model for you. We'll love you so much that you will be the most important thing in our lives aside from God ofcourse to be number One. We love you!
